Punkin' Chuckin' 2007 Kemble: The Real Purpose of Science

Nice rainy day in Kemble to witness the collision of Da Vinci and Deliverance. From primitive hand launched slingshots to 50 foot long air charged cannons, no pumpkin was safe. I think the farthest shot we saw was the air cannon firing a pumpkin about 1200 feet....it was awesome and the boys loved it. (Grown up "boys" included.)

Hike from Hell !

I really wanted to show the boys the glacial potholes and awesome cliffs at Hope Bay.

Checked out the map in the Bruce Trail book and blindly drove off on our adventure.











Note to self: Maybe look at how long a hike is before you start it with a 5 year old !



I thought it might be 3 km or so....turns out it was just over 7 km....ergo I had an extra 45 lbs on my back for at least half of it!

Raking leaves ? Carving pumpkins ? Putting on storm windows or getting out the winter clothes?
Nope.
You go to the beach !

It was about 26C that day and the water was still above 70....

Caleb's First Cross-Country Race

Caleb looks to be pushin' hard here as he approaches the finish line. It was his first race and he came in 98th out of 200....just about the middle of the pack.

Way to go Caleb !

Our first trip with the new trailer took us to Woodland Park at Sauble Beach...the Four Seasons version of campgrounds. That's me looking like an accountant, but happy nonetheless.

It was warm but mighty windy...a great start to a great summer.

SNAKES ALIVE ! ! !

The gang dropped by Bognor Marsh last week to welcome in the black flies and search for pollywogs, turtles, snakes and all things marshy. (That's Caleb's friend Reese & Reese's sister Page in the middle)

Water snakes were everywhere.

Here's one sunning in a tree...

A ball of about 6 snakes that were, um, well, being snakes...

I don't think we brought any home but I found this baby milk snake in the sunroom last night after everyone had crashed...

Nicole & Caleb took him to school to show the kindergartens & Caleb's gr. 1 class.

Easter bunny defeats Santa for causing greater sleepless anticipation !

Yes, our Caleb couldn't sleep last night because he was just too excited about the Easter Bunny visiting us today...several times he thought he saw "something white" outside his window, but when I started talking about "Pookah's" (see Harvey, starring Jimmy Stewart) he really started to wonder.

Needless to say Nicole & I had little sleep while our "wabbit hunter" thumped around above us (ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!)...but he was eager to roll early this a.m. while I slept....yes, the IKEA clock beside Caleb's head is correctly telling us that it is almost 4a.m and yes, Caleb has plundered his Easter Basket while we slept...



















Approx 7am Tommy was roused from his slumber (good for him for sleeping so well !!) and halfheartedly tried to keep up with Caleb as he scooped up loads of booty left by our furry friend...



The guy in his PJs and the video cam is not Steven Spielberg.



















Later, as a tribute to the Season 6 Premiere of The Trailer Park Boys showcase-ing later this eve and for the sheer fun of it I deep fried a turkey for Nicole's family....

After the fry we had another egg hunt in the backyard...it was a blast !





Caleb taught us how to hula . . .


Nicole was really happy that Spring has finally sprung...
